Black Friday falls on 27 November this year, and for many London households it is the moment to finally replace the old television. The deal is the easy part. The harder part is what happens when a large box arrives at your door and the screen needs to go on the wall, ideally before the weekend is over. This guide covers what to check before you buy, what to do on delivery day, and which Ai Protech mounting package suits your setup. All prices are inc. VAT.
Before you buy: measure the wall, not just the room
Sales pages make it tempting to go one size up. Before you do, stand where you normally sit and look at the wall you have in mind. A few quick checks save a lot of hassle later:
- Width of the wall space. Measure between alcoves, windows or door frames, and leave some breathing room either side of the screen.
- What the wall is made of. Many London homes mix solid brick, older lath and plaster, and modern plasterboard partitions, sometimes in the same room. Knock on it and note whether it sounds hollow.
- Where the power is. If the nearest socket sits at skirting level, you will either see a cable running down the wall or need power added behind the screen.
- What else connects to it. A soundbar, Sky box or games console all affect how the cables need to run.
If you are unsure about any of this, take a photo of the wall and include it when you get in touch. It helps us recommend the right package before the TV even arrives.
Delivery day: leave the box and the bracket question to us
When the new TV arrives, keep it in its box and keep all the paperwork, screws and accessories together. Do not throw away the packaging until the screen is on the wall and working, in case anything needs to go back to the retailer.
You may also be wondering which bracket to buy. Fixed, tilting and full-motion brackets all have their place, and the right choice depends on the screen, the wall and where you sit. Our engineers fit all major TV brands and sizes, and we can talk you through bracket options when you book.
Which mounting package fits your new TV?
We offer three TV wall mounting packages. Here is how they differ.
Basic Install: £149 inc. VAT
The Basic Install mounts your TV level, safe and secure on any wall type, using load-tested fixings at the right viewing height. Cables are tidied for a clean finish, it covers all major TV brands and sizes, and same-day installation is available in most areas. It suits a straightforward swap where you are happy with a neat, tidied cable rather than hiding it inside the wall.
Standard Install: £229 inc. VAT
The Standard Install adds full in-wall cable concealment for a clean, clutter-free wall. It covers TVs up to 75 inches, with precise levelling and alignment, a safety check, tidy-up and a demonstration before the engineer leaves. This is the choice if you want the wall to look as tidy as the photos in the sales listing.
Premium Install: £349 inc. VAT
The Premium Install is for screens up to 85 inches and all bracket types. It includes full cable management and concealment, precision levelling, and hook-up of your Sky box, soundbar and consoles, so everything is connected and working before we leave. A tidy-up and full demonstration are included. If your Black Friday purchase is a bigger screen plus a new soundbar, this package keeps it all in one visit.
Need power behind the screen?
If there is no socket where the TV will sit, our Media Wall Power Kit at £329 inc. VAT adds a new socket or fused spur behind the TV with a concealed in-wall cable feed. The work is Part P compliant, and it pairs with any of the mounting packages above. It is the simplest way to avoid a visible power lead running down to the skirting board.
Going further: a full media wall
Some people use a new TV as the excuse to rethink the whole wall. Our Media Wall package at £549 inc. VAT covers TV and soundbar mounting with all cables hidden in the wall, LED backlighting installed, games console setup, and patching and making good afterwards. You can see more on our audio visual services page.
Book early for the busy weeks
The weeks after Black Friday and into December are naturally busy for TV installations, as many people want everything set up before family arrives for Christmas. If you already know which TV you are buying, it makes sense to get your booking in early rather than waiting for the box to arrive.
